(Luke 23:44-46) ““It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun had stopped shining.   And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Jesus called out in a loud voice, ‘Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.’ When he had said this, he breathed his last.”

In some cultures in the ancient world, to enter before the presence of a King without permission could earn the death penalty.

This makes what the greatest king who ever reigned did even more amazing.

King Jesus, who is God over all, went willingly to be crucified for you and me.  Why?  Because it was the only way that your sins could be paid for and forgiven.  Through his death on the cross, you have a new hope and a new life.  Your guilt is gone.

Now you can come into the presence of the King, you can come before God, without fear.  Because of Jesus, you are forgiven.  Did you catch how the “curtain of the temple was torn in two”?  That is a picture of how the barrier between us and God has been removed.  You and I can come before him with confidence.  We have access to the throne of the King because of the love and sacrifice of the King.

King Jesus died for you, rose again, and rules over everything.  He loves you more than anyone ever will.  He’s waiting and excited to hear from you today!

Happy to be part of Jesus’ kingdom with you,

Pastor Schumann
