Devotion: (2 Corinthians 1:9) “Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”
Ah yes, it is Thursday! Hump day is over! You have made it over half-way through another week. Perhaps it has been a great week for you; perhaps it has been a tough week for you.
Regardless, you have something solid upon which to lean. No, it is not your job, not your health, not your retirement account, not the reliability of your automobiles, not your friends. Oh sure, all of those things could be helpful to us in day-to-day living, but all of those things can also disappoint us.
But you HAVE something absolutely solid upon which you can lean! Your God! And your God is a God who raises the dead! You can see it as Jesus raised others from the dead and you can see it perhaps most spectacularly in the truth that Jesus raised Himself from the dead! That’s power!
And that is the powerful God upon whom you and I can keep on leaning.
Thankful that I can lean on God, just like you,
