Devotion: (2 Timothy 1:11-12) “And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.”
The devil loves to attack you and me. He loves to pester us with questions like, “Are you sure you are really a believer? Do you believe strongly enough? If you really are a believer, why do you struggle so much with _______ _______ _______ (fill in the blank for yourself)?”
And of course, the devil is always trying to lead us to ask the wrong questions. The question isn’t, “How strong am I?” The question is, “How strong is God?” What makes faith so precious isn’t faith itself, but WHOM the faith trusts!
And whom do we trust? Like Paul, we trust in the God who loves us dearly, who has gone to the cross for us, who has forgiven our sins, who is the all-powerful Creator of the heavens and the earth. That’s the One in whom you believe! Is He able to guard your eternal life? Absolutely! Is He able to keep strengthening your faith? Without a doubt!
So the question is not, “How strong am I?” Rather, it is “How strong is my God?” And the answer to that question is glorious!
Thankful for my strong, loving God, just like you,
