(Luke 9:29-31a) “As he (Jesus) was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.  Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus.”

As Peter viewed the glorious event of Jesus’ transfiguration he said this, “It is good for us to be here!”  I bet it was!  Peter was able to see a glimpse of Jesus in His heavenly glory!  How awesome that must have been!

But one day it will be even better!  For one day God will take you and me to heaven, along with all who believe in Him!  On that glorious day we will shine radiantly, we will be able to talk to Moses, Elijah and even Jesus, and there will be no more fear, sadness or disappointment because the stains of sin will have been removed from us.   What a glorious day that will be when God takes us to be with Him in heaven!

Looking forward to that great day gives us the strength to battle through life’s hardships today, tomorrow and every day until that glorious day!  Jesus, the glorious, Savior-God is with me.  What is our purpose today?  It’s to serve Jesus in whatever we are doing.  It’s to grow in our understanding of the Word, so that the Word can strengthen our faith as we walk towards our eternal home.  What’s our goal today?  To keep walking towards that wonderful, heavenly home!

And when we get there, like Peter we’ll say, “It’s good to be here!”

Looking forward to that glorious day, just like you,

Pastor Schumann
