(Matthew 11:28 NIV) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
I hope that you can get some good rest at church on Sunday.
Notice, I didn’t say that I hope you can get some good sleep at church on Sunday. Church isn’t for snoozing. Worship is meant to be active– you sing, you speak, you greet, you listen, you offer, you pray, you stand, you sit. Sleeping is not on the agenda.
But rest is. And this rest is not simply a break from physical labor or workplace headaches. This is a rest for the soul – hearing that your biggest stresses are solved in your Savior, that your biggest faults are forgiven by your Father, and that your biggest worries are wiped out in the words of Jesus.
This is Jesus’ promise: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Get some rest this Sunday. Go to church.
Looking forward to rest my soul this Sunday just like you,
