(Genesis 11:8,9 NIV) “So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9That is why it was called Babel – because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world.
What is wrong with building a great tower and everyone in the world staying in one city? Well, nothing … unless God had specifically told you to scatter throughout the earth. Noah’s descendants, instead of listening to God and following His Word, decided to build the tower of Babel to show how great they were. In so doing, they were doing exactly the opposite of what God had said.
But God is love. He wasn’t going to let them continue in their open rebellion, so He confused their language and the rebellious people had to scatter over the whole earth.
God has done something very similar for us.
We were blatant sinners and on the path leading away from Him… towards hell. But, God is love! So, He brought to us His “confusing” love through the person and work of Jesus. “Confusing love?” Yes! His love is confusing because there is no logical basis for His love. We rebel… He loves, We disobey… He loves, We sin… He loves, We (fill in the blank)… He loves! Our God simply loves us and He will never take that love from us! And that love pulled us from the path to hell to the path to eternal glory!
Thankful for God’s “confusing” love, just like you
