(Isaiah 40:1 NIV)  “Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.”

Tis the season to be… jolly, joyful, happy, cheerful, giving, and so on.  The Christmas commercials on television and the Christmas carols on the radio daily remind you that Christmas is to be a “care free” and “no worries” time of year.  The Christmas season is the time of year that all people are to live in harmony with one another and to get along with no problems.

Yet, sometimes it seems as if this is the most hectic, crazy, chaotic time of the year.  Stress can run rampant in your life, the money runs low, the bills pile up, work is extremely busy, the family problems seem to be at a breaking point, and you just want to pull your hair out.  And the “season of no worries” seems to be the “season of stress” and you just can’t wait for it to come to an end.

But during this crazy time of year your God comes to you and says, “comfort, comfort my people.”  Your God tells you to take a step back from the stresses, the problems and to take comfort.  Take comfort in what?  He tells you to take comfort in the new born baby boy lying in the manger who put you at peace with your God.  Your God tells you to take comfort because that baby has forgiven all your sins and given you eternal life.

And so this Christmas season, no matter what happens, no matter what stresses pop up, take comfort in that baby who is lying in the manger who has made you at peace with God!  It is with the comfort that Jesus gives you that this time of year and every time of year will truly be “the season of no worries!”

Taking comfort in Jesus just like you,

Pastor
