(Matthew 25:40) “The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

When was the last time you did something for someone?  Maybe you helped at a soup kitchen, went to the nursing home to visit the elderly or helped out at the hospital.  If you did, that is great!  But I know not all of us have the time or the means to help people in these ways.  So think a little harder… when was the last time you helped someone?  Maybe it was when you unloaded the dishwasher for your wife so that she wouldn’t have to deal with it after a long day of work.  Maybe it was when you vacuumed the house for your mom so that she could just relax on the weekend.  Perhaps you mowed the lawn for your dad because he had been so busy.  Maybe you held the door for someone at the grocery store, picked something up for someone after they dropped it on the ground or helped someone with directions.  If you think about it you help people more than you realize!

And what is really cool about helping others is that when you help them you are not just helping them but in the passage above Jesus says it is as if you are helping Jesus himself!  How cool is that?!!!  When you unload the dishwasher for your mom, when you mow the lawn for your dad, it is like you are unloading the dishwasher for Jesus and mowing the lawn to help out Jesus.  When you give someone directions, pick something up for them that they dropped or hold the door open for them it is like you are doing those things for Jesus!

My friends, when we help each other, our Savior says that it is like we are helping him!  What a neat perspective on life to know that when we help each other, the one who helped us by saving us from our sins, says that it is like we have helped him!  What amazing grace we have been given!

Living with a new perspective on life, just like you!
