(Matthew 28:18-20)  Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Well, how’s your job going this week?  Has it been busy or has it been slow?  Has it been exhausting or actually somewhat refreshing?  Have you gotten along with your co-workers or are you fighting?  Is it time for a vacation?

All of us have different answers for those questions.  But I think it is safe to say that sometimes our jobs and our busy lives can stress us out.  It seems as if at times we get caught up in all the work we have to do, the errands we have to run, or the places we need to be that we forget about our most important job- the “job” of going and making disciples of all nations.  And how could we forget about this “job?”  How come this “job” often gets overlooked or neglected?  I mean think about it and review our job description…

Boss- Jesus,the most loving, caring, powerful man in the world/universe, ”hired” us.

Wage- He “paid” us by giving his life for us on the cross.

Life Insurance-  He promises to be with us always to the very end of the age.

Vacation- an eternity with him in heaven

Benefits- Lives filled with the fruits of the Spirit (peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, etc…)

What’s not to like about this job?  This job is the greatest job in the world.  We have been chosen to tell people about Jesus!  We have been chosen to tell others about that peace, joy, and comfort that we walk around with every day of our lives.  We have been chosen to tell people that their sins have been washed away.  What an awesome job we have.  And if that wasn’t enough Jesus tells us that as we go and do our “jobs” we are not alone but he is right there with us giving you the strength and the words to say.  How cool is that- our boss works with us!

And so in the next couple of days go, tell someone about the love Jesus has for them.  Invite them to Church and to Bible Class so that they can know of that peace that you and I already know of – the peace of what Jesus has done for us.

A worker in God’s Kingdom, just like you,

Pastor Schumann
